The Nancy Hanks II made its first trip on July 17, 1947 and became a popular Central of Georgia Railway passenger train that made the six-hour run between Atlanta and Savannah through Barnesville. It was named after a race horse who was named for Abraham Lincoln's mother, and each train bore a likeness of the famed trotter on the side. The Nancy made its last run on April 30, 1971.
