In remembrance of September 11, 2001, this honors the people who lost their lives, the heroes who died trying to save others, the courage of an entire nation, its strength in persevering, and the tenacity with which the United States defends freedom. Recovered nearly 40 feet underground at the corner of Church and Liberty Streets in New York City, about a block from its original foundation, it was an outside beam in World Trade Center Tower Number 2.
