Terlingua Abaja was a farming village that supplied produce for area miners and ranchers from 1900 until the 1930's. Its heart lay across Terlingua Creek among rock and adobe ruins, and the banks of the creek were once studded with cottonwoods. Over time, man has taken a heavy toll on this land.
