Organized on December 2, 1848, at Rehoboth Baptist Church in Mount Lebanon by 13 men including first president James Scarborough, the Louisiana Baptist Convention took as its objects missionary and educational work, the promotion of harmony, feeling, and concert of action, and the advancement of the interests of the Redeemer's Kingdom in Louisiana and in regions beyond the state.
