Claire Hanley Arboretum in Medford, Oregon, stands on the Oregon State University Extension and Research campus and on land rooted in the former Michael Hanley Farmstead. First planted in the 1960s by the Hanley sisters and expanded with additional plantings since 1995, it contains mature trees such as Cornus mas, Davidia involucrata, and Oxydendrum arboreum. The site is significant both as a landscaped arboretum and as part of a family property with deeper local history. That history traces from Michael Hanley’s purchase of the original donation land claim through later inheritance by Alice Hanley, then by her niece Claire Hanley and sisters Martha and Mary Hanley.
