The Village of Standard honors its veterans by naming local service members from the World War I era of 1917-1918, the World War II era of 1941-1945, the Korean War era of 1950-1955, the Viet Nam War era of 1961-1975, and the Persian Gulf War era beginning in 1990, and closes with a remembrance poem reflecting on those who gave their lives, the horror of their deaths, the freedom their sacrifice preserved, and a call to pause, remember, and pray for them.
