During World War II, members of the Avon Park community served in the war, and the community dedicated a lasting memory to those who lost their lives, including Louis O. Bryant, B. Tillman Crosby Jr., George L. Durrance, Fred G. Johns, Roy D. Maddox, Russell Massey, Ralph T. Rogers, Harold E. Rowe, Frank Wilkes, John E. Wilkes, and Howard O. Wray.
