In honor of the heroes of the Civil War, 1861-65, this memorial was dedicated on Oct. 15 under the auspices of Robt. Mitchell Post, No. 206 G.A.R. and the Womans Relief Corps, No. 126. It bears an in memoriam inscription and Abraham Lincoln’s words: “That these dead shall not have died in vain, that this nation under God shall have a new birth of freedom, that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the Earth.”
