The men and women of Slovan, Pennsylvania, served their country in World Wars I and II, and among those who made the supreme sacrifice were Barto Fred, Barto John, Burish Mike, Doboski Ernest, Dugas Albert, Fischer Thomas Jr., Matula John, Medved Hobart, Mudre Steve, Plate Sam, Vladich Pete, and Yaksic Marko. In the Vietnam Conflict, Richard L. Windsheimer made the supreme sacrifice.
