Simpson Creek Covered Bridge in Bridgeport, West Virginia, is a multiple-kingpost truss covered road bridge built in 1881 by Asa Hugill. Measuring 75 feet long and 14.25 feet wide, it originally stood elsewhere on Simpson Creek but was moved about half a mile upstream after a flood washed it out in July 1889. It is one of only two remaining covered bridges in Harrison County, along with the Fletcher Covered Bridge, and stands as an example of this truss design. A major renovation in 2001 added a new timber deck, new wooden siding, and fresh paint, preserving part of the region’s 19th-century road network.
