Expanded Here Page & History Filters

June 7, 2024

Goals

  1. Inspire Adventure
  2. Rethink marketing - Up to this point, marketing has felt like a faceless chore. It hasn’t been a good fit for Jase and I. We want to figure out a new way to do ‘marketing’.
  3. Help users see value after downloading - Although we’ve gotten a fair number of downloads, we’d like to improve the number of people finding and listening to more than one story.

“Sales & Marketing” → “Expand & Engage”

Sales & Marketing has felt so cold. We’ve changed our viewpoint towards a more human-scale mindset. Rather than cold emailing potential leads, we’d like to naturally expand our network. Rather than sending emails on a set cadence, we’d rather make real connections and get to know our users.

Improve Initial Value

Before this update, users landed on a page that resembled a big blob. Originally we designed the app with a simple drive-friendly UI, but, this came at the expense of users not having clear actions they can take to find value.

We redesigned this initial page, paying more attention to what actions we users to do right after downloading and opening the app. We brought more attention to your location, showing unique things around you. We brought our playlists up to the front, along with a list of tags that describe where you are at a glance.

We also wanted to make the history page more helpful, before this stories could be ‘liked’ but there was no easy way to find liked stories again. Now, you can filter stories based on what you’ve listened to or liked and any specific story category you’re interested in.
