Almost a year ago, Jase and I set out to create a new kind of ExploreHere experience: ExploreHere Audio Guide. We wanted to bring a deeper sense of connection to the places you adventure, and what better way to do that than with stories that make those places come alive? ExploreHere Audio Guide covered the entire US with over 200,000 stories on history, culture, technology, food, and more, and we loved the positive feedback from users who felt enriched by the audio journeys.
However, we also noticed something: while people loved the audio, it wasn’t solving as clear a problem as our original app, ExploreHere Markers. Markers was simple—you’d see a point of interest, learn a bit, and move on. It filled a specific need. Despite our best marketing efforts, ExploreHere Markers continued to outperform Audio Guide, even without major updates for a couple of years.
This realization helped us pivot: what if we brought these two worlds together? We focused on revamping Markers, releasing version 3 a few weeks ago, and today we’re excited to share our first merged version of ExploreHere Markers and Audio Guide! Now, when you find a marker, you can dive even deeper with a rich "Here" page, detailing the native lands, ecosystems, and geology that surround you. Plus, you can listen to stories and curated playlists about state and national parks, bringing more depth and meaning to your travels.
ExploreHere Markers and Audio Guide are better together ❤️.
