Exploring NM Through its Historical Markers

November 8, 2024

On Saturday January 18th at 5:00PM, we'll be hosting a talk at Travel Bug in Santa Fe, NM in which we Explore New Mexico through its Historical Markers. If you're in the area, we'd love you to drop in and tell us about your travels!

This talk will provide a glimpse into the state's roadside historical markers, uncovering how these places capture the essence of New Mexico's heritage. You'll learn about unique markers like the birthplace of Smokey Bear, which speaks to the region's conservation history and the Gila Wilderness marker, representing America's first designated wilderness area. Drawing from my own travels across the US, I'll share practical tips on how to use historical markers to enrich your own adventures. From planning road trips to discovering hidden gems off the beaten path, this talk will inspire you to see New Mexico's history in a new light and make your travels more meaningful.
