Table Mountain is a summit in Washington’s North Cascades near Artist Point, valued for both its easy access and sweeping alpine views of nearby peaks such as Mount Shuksan and Mount Baker. A short trail reaches its western end, while remnants of the Table Mountain Glacier persist on its northeast slope and its runoff feeds tributaries of the Skagit and Nooksack rivers. Geologically, it is distinctive as a very thick andesite lava flow that likely pooled in a canyon as a lava lake, then was later shaped by glaciation. Together, its volcanic origin, columnar rock forms, and glacial setting make it a compact example of the region’s landscape history.
