Trigg County, formed from Caldwell and Christian counties in 1820, was named for Col. Stephen Trigg, a Virginian who came to Ky. in 1779 as a member of the Court of Land Commissioners, settled Trigg's Station near Harrodsburg in 1780, was active in the Virginia Legislature in establishing the town of Louisville in 1780, served as a justice of the peace on the first Lincoln Co. court in 1781, and was killed at the Battle of Blue Licks on Aug. 19, 1782.
