William Jesse McDonald was a fearless frontier law officer known for crack marksmanship and lightning-fast disarming of foes. In 1891, his long-time friend Gov. James Hogg made him Captain of Co. B, Frontier Battalion. There he handled the "Murder Society of San Saba" and the Wichita bank robbery. In 1904, he conducted Pres. Theodore Roosevelt on a wolf hunt. He was also a U.S. Marshall under Pres. Woodrow Wilson. His first wife was Rhoda Carter, and his second was Pearl Wilkerson.
