Indian Town stood at this point, where the trail from Raccoon Forks joined the Mormon Trail. In 1911, the Historical Department of Iowa determined and authenticated the route. In 1917, the Iowa Daughters of the American Revolution erected a monument in memory of the pioneers who followed this trail and its tributaries.
