Lake Anita State Park in Cass County, south of Anita along Iowa Highway 148, centers on a 171-acre reservoir on a branch of the Nishnabotna River. In southwest Iowa, it is valued as a regional outdoor destination for family camping, day-use recreation, and easy lake access. The park includes a popular campground with 161 campsites, shower and restroom buildings, a playground, picnic areas, and eight reservable open shelters. Recreation focuses on quiet shoreline use, with a beach, two boat ramps, seasonal docks, and no-wake boating. Fishing, a 1-mile self-guided nature trail, and a 4-mile trail for walking and bicycling add to its appeal.
