Martin Peak is a prominent North Cascades summit in Washington’s Glacier Peak Wilderness, rising 8,509 feet on Wenatchee National Forest land northeast of Seattle near Holden. Ranked among the state’s higher peaks, it stands near Bonanza Peak and Riddle Peak and is especially dramatic above Railroad Creek Valley, where its south side climbs steeply in a short distance. Water from the mountain and a glacier in its east cirque drains toward Lake Chelan. Its rugged form reflects uplift, faulting, and repeated glaciation in the North Cascades, and the mountain’s recorded first ascent came in July 1936 by Ida Zacher Darr.
