Gasparilla Island State Park occupies the southern end of Gasparilla Island, just south of Boca Grande between Charlotte Harbor and Pine Island Sound. It preserves a public coastal setting focused on beach and water access, with swimming, fishing, shelling, and picnicking as principal activities. At the island’s southern tip stands the Historic Port Boca Grande Lighthouse, which now houses a museum and gift shop operated by the nonprofit Barrier Island Park Society. The park’s beaches, parking lots, and picnic areas support recreation amid habitat for wildlife including West Indian manatee, gopher tortoise, bald eagle, osprey, and shorebirds such as least tern, royal tern, Sandwich tern, and black skimmer.
