Coraopolis Borough honored those who, in a spirit of self-sacrifice, enrolled themselves in the service of their country in the World War of 1914-1919, listing hundreds of local men and women who served, including Miss Valva Luke, Nurse, and setting their service alongside quotations from George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. It also preserved the memory of those who gave their lives for the cause: George E. Nock, David James Pugh, Claude Elmer Rankin, F. Sabadino Ferrara, John Arthur Holmes, Vance Hays, and Rev. M. Wilson Keith.
