The Willamette Heritage Center in Salem, Oregon, preserves a five-acre campus of major historic buildings that unite the city’s industrial and settlement-era past. Formed in 2010 through the merger of the Mission Mill Museum Association and the Marion County Historical Society, it centers on the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill, founded in 1889, rebuilt after an 1895 fire, and operated by four generations of the Kay family until production ended by 1962. The campus also includes the 1841 Jason Lee House and Methodist Parsonage, the 1847 John D. Boon House, and the 1858 Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church, along with exhibits, archives, and evidence of an earlier Methodist mission school.
