Ken Lockwood Gorge is a 563-acre wildlife management area in Lebanon Township, New Jersey, along a two-and-a-half-mile stretch of the South Branch Raritan River between Califon and High Bridge. Known as one of the state’s most beautiful natural places, it features steep wooded terrain, rich habitat for game and non-game species, and a notably diverse population of birds and mammals. Purchased in 1948 by the Division of Fish, Game and Wildlife, it was named shortly after the death of conservationist and outdoor journalist Kenneth F. Lockwood, who championed setting aside land for hunting and fishing. The gorge is also a prominent trout fishing destination and is crossed by the Columbia Trail.
