Right after the turn of the century, C.E. Chase established a popular gathering place for cigar lovers that became known throughout the City of Boyne. As proprietor of the well kept store, Chase produced an excellent line of goods, including brands such as "Greater Boyne" and "Famous," which sold for a dime, and "Boyne" and "Factory Smokers," which were priced at a nickel. He also traded in other popular cigar brands and carried a choice line of confectionery. Around 1912, the company moved to Water Street.
