Sultan Mountain
Nature
Sultan Mountain is a 13,373-foot peak in the San Juan Mountains of southwestern Colorado, located in San Juan County southwest of Silverton. Its significance lies in its prominent high-altitude setting within an alpine subarctic climate zone. The mountain experiences long, cold, snowy winters and cool to warm summers. Because of its elevation, precipitation occurs year-round, coming as snow in winter and thunderstorms in summer, with a relatively drier period in late spring.
