Ted Strickland, the youngest of nine children, was born in Lucasville, Ohio, on August 4, 1941, and grew up on Duck Run. When he was very young, the family home burned down, and his father fixed up a backyard chicken coop and moved the family into it as temporary housing while the house was rebuilt. This house stands on what today is called Inkeep Road, and when Route 348 was rebuilt, the road dead-ended at the Strickland home. Just 1/3 mile from the Strickland home is the boyhood home of Roy Rogers on what today is called Trigger Pass Road, and two and two third miles from there is Branch Rickey's boyhood home. Ted Strickland was first elected to Congress in 1992 and was re-elected for four additional terms. He ran for and was elected Ohio's 68th Governor in 2006 with sixty percent of the vote.
