Mount Aeolus
Nature
Mount Aeolus is a summit in the Taconic Mountains of southwestern Vermont, in Dorset, about 1.5 miles west of East Dorset. Part of the mountain chain along the state’s edge, it rises prominently above the surrounding valleys. Its name comes from Aeolus, the Greek god of the wind. The current form became official in 1986, when the Board on Geographic Names chose Mount Aeolus over earlier names including Mount Eolus and Green Peak.
