Quinlan's Covered Bridge in southeastern Charlotte, Vermont, carries Monkton Road over Lewis Creek and survives as one of nine nineteenth-century Burr arch covered bridges in the state. Also known as the Lower Covered Bridge and the Sherman Covered Bridge, it is a single-span wooden road bridge distinguished by Burr arch trusses, a gabled roof, vertical board siding, and stone abutments faced in concrete. Its builder is unknown, though it was likely built by the same person responsible for the Sequin Covered Bridge upstream. Strengthened in 1949 or 1950 and reconstructed in 2013, it remains both an active rural crossing and a preserved part of Vermont’s covered-bridge heritage.
