Mount Abbot is a Sierra Nevada peak in California’s John Muir Wilderness along the Sierra Crest, between Mount Mills and Mount Dade on the Fresno–Inyo county line. It was named for Henry Larcom Abbot, who joined the Williamson party of the Pacific Railroad Surveys in California and Oregon in 1855 and later retired from the United States Army as a brigadier general in 1904. The mountain is also recognized as one of California’s 4,000-meter peaks and is considered a thirteener.
