A solid chunk of pure anthracite coal weighing 13,000 pounds could heat a single family home for a year. The Jeddo-Highland Coal Company pulled it from the Mammoth Vein at their Ebervale Site in Hazleton, Pennsylvania. This 6½ ton block was recovered intact with a Marion-8700 drag line, using a bucket that picks up 85 tons of earth in a single scoop. Pagnotti Enterprises, the parent company, donated it in 1988.
