Bald Mountain is a prominent peak in northeastern Pennsylvania overlooking the Wilkes-Barre and Scranton area in the Wyoming Valley. Part of the Ridge and Valley Appalachians, it is distinguished by Pinnacle Rock at its summit, an outcrop of Devonian-age Catskill conglomerate. The mountaintop offers views of the northernmost extension of the Glaciated Low Plateaus section, making it an important vantage point for understanding the region’s landscape and geology. The summit is reached by the Pinnacle Rock Trail from the mountain’s west side, with a climb of about 900 vertical feet.
