Built in 1901 in Payson, Utah, Peteetneet School, also called Peteetneet Academy, was designed by Richard C. Watkins in a blend of Victorian and Romanesque Revival styles, distinguished by its Victorian belfry. Named for Chief Peteetneet of a Tumpanawach Ute band, the building later served as an elementary school and remained in educational use until 1989. When demolition was planned, local residents organized to save and restore it, aided by more than $100,000 from the Utah Department of Transportation. It now serves as a museum and cultural arts center, housing local historical and arts organizations, and has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since May 30, 1990.
