Hawk Mountain is a 2,553-metre summit in Jasper National Park, Alberta, near the northwest end of the Colin Range in the Canadian Rockies. About 16 kilometres northeast of Jasper, it is a prominent landmark in the Athabasca Valley, visible from Highway 16 and the Canadian railway line, with runoff from its slopes draining into the Athabasca River. Dominion Land Surveyor Morrison P. Bridgland named the peak in 1916 after seeing a hawk near its summit, and the Geographical Names Board of Canada formally adopted the name in 1956. Its subarctic climate brings cold, snowy winters and mild summers.
