Mount Colin is a 2,687-metre peak in Jasper National Park in Alberta's Canadian Rockies, rising in the Colin Range northeast of Jasper and serving as a prominent Athabasca Valley landmark visible from Highway 16 and the rail line. James Hector named it in 1859 for Colin Fraser of the Hudson's Bay Company, who oversaw Jasper House from 1835 to 1849 and also served Sir George Simpson. The Geographical Names Board of Canada officially adopted the name in 1956. Its runoff flows to the Athabasca River, and its subarctic climate brings cold snowy winters, mild summers, and the best climbing conditions from June through September.
