No Name Glacier is on Mount Baker in Washington’s North Cascades, between Mazama and Bastile glaciers, with meltwater flowing through Dobbs Creek into Wells Creek. W. H. Dorr first noted it in 1886 during a gold-prospecting expedition, B. B. Dobbs explored it again in 1892, and Henry C. Engberg gave it its name in 1911. Its history reflects the broader pattern of Mount Baker’s glaciers: rapid retreat in the early 20th century, partial recovery from the 1940s through the 1970s, and renewed recession afterward. A 2023 study found that it had split into five separate pieces, underscoring the scale of its recent change.
