Men and women of the Armed Forces of the United States have honorably served in war and peace, past, present, and future, and their devotion to duty since the birth of the nation will never be forgotten. A tribute also declares that the soldier, not the reporter, has given freedom of the press; the soldier, not the campus organizer, has given the freedom to demonstrate; and the soldier who salutes the flag, serves beneath it, and whose coffin is draped by it allows the protester to burn the flag.
