Williams Peak is a 10,636-foot summit in Idaho’s Sawtooth Range and one of the most recognizable mountains above Stanley because of its height, position near Thompson Peak, and visibility from the main valley and nearby trails. Named for pioneer Dave Williams, who joined the first recorded ascent in 1934, it also looks over property he later owned. The mountain is valued both for scenery and for climbing, offering routes that range from relatively accessible scrambling on its southern slopes and ridges to a steep north-face climb of more than 1,100 feet, plus the variable June Couloir first climbed in 1986.
