Thompson Peak
Nature
Thompson Peak, in Idaho’s Sawtooth Wilderness, is the highest mountain in the Sawtooth Range at 10,751 feet and a defining landmark above Stanley and the Redfish Lake basin. Its summit is in Custer County, with lower slopes extending into Boise County, and it rises within one of Idaho’s best-known alpine landscapes near Williams Peak and Mickey’s Spire. Easy access from the Redfish Lake area has made it a major destination for climbers and hikers. Four established summit routes range from a class 3 scramble to technical climbs, underscoring the peak’s rugged character and its importance as a central Sawtooth objective.
