Mount Carter is a 10,590-foot peak in Idaho’s Sawtooth Range and the range’s seventh-highest summit. Located in the Sawtooth Wilderness within the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, it stands on the border of Boise and Custer counties. The mountain lies among the rugged, closely packed high peaks that form the central crest of the range. It rises about 0.32 mile northwest of Mickey’s Spire, identified as its line parent, and about 0.43 mile west of Thompson Peak, the highest summit in the Sawtooths. Its position places it near some of the range’s most prominent and best-known mountains.
