Nantucket Beacon served as a rear range light with Brant Point Light to guide vessels into Nantucket Harbor in Massachusetts during the 19th century. Its origins are unclear, with evidence pointing either to 1794 or 1820, but by 1838 it was a small 11-foot structure lit by two oil lanterns. A new pyramidal tower with a 21-inch reflector lamp replaced it in 1856. The beacon was moved several times, including an unsuccessful placement on Brant Point in 1869 before it was shifted back the following year. It seems to have gone out of use between 1879 and 1880, later superseded by newer harbor range lights.
