In memory of beloved dead, the pastor, people, and friends of the parish used the building stones of St. Peter's Church, the first Catholic church in this area built in the wilderness. It arose through great hardship and labor and the indomitable faith of their forebearers in A.D. 1836; Clarence G. Issenmann was bishop in A.D. 1959, and Peter R. McEwan was pastor.
