McCurdy Mountain is a 12,172-foot summit in central Colorado’s Tarryall Mountains, within the Lost Creek Wilderness of Pike National Forest, about 28.2 miles east of Fairplay. It is especially known for the unusual granite formations on and around the peak, a feature it shares with nearby Bison Peak. These weathered rock outcrops help give the Lost Creek Wilderness its distinctive landscape and distinguish McCurdy Mountain from more uniformly shaped alpine summits. The mountain remains a backcountry peak within protected national forest land.
