Stoops' Barber Shop was founded in 1899 by Oscar Stoops on Carlisle Street in a basement room with a pool table. His brother Calvin relocated the business to this site in 1928. He was succeeded by his son Donald "Red" Stoops, Sr., and later by Donald Stoops, Jr.
