Philip Freneau died on Dec. 18th 1832 at the age of 80 years, 11 months, and 16 days. He was a native of New York but for many years a resident of Philadelphia and New Jersey. His upright and benevolent character remained in the memory of many and was expected to endure beyond the legibility of the inscription. The text also records Agnes, relict of Peter Freneau, mother of Philip Freneau, and late widow of James Kearney, who died on Oct. 18th 1817 in the 91st year of her age.
