Goldmine Consolidated School was created in 1924 by combining Sandy Grove and Old Goldmine Schools. Its enrollment increased when Duncan’s pupils joined after that school closed in the early 1930s. Grades one through nine were taught in a new brick building, and an auditorium was later added for vocational instruction, sports, drama, and assembly. The cannery and shop served both the school and the community, and a teacherage was built nearby. The gym was destroyed by a tornado in 1944 and was not rebuilt. Goldmine closed in 1956, and its students were divided between Eagle Grove and Vanna.
