Florida Botanical Gardens in Largo is a one hundred eighty-two-acre public garden and outdoor learning center within Pinewood Cultural Park. Conceived in nineteen ninety-one and strengthened by county support and a nonprofit foundation formed in nineteen ninety-three, it developed as a set of demonstration gardens rather than a single formal landscape. Its varied spaces include themed plant collections, children’s and wildlife areas, and gathering places for ceremonies and seasonal displays. Managed by Pinellas County with partners such as UF/IFAS and local cultural organizations, it combines horticulture, conservation, education, and community events, making it an important public space for both gardens and local cultural life.
