Warren Ross has lived his entire life in Upland, where his family settled after the Civil War before the town was founded in the late 1860s. He attended Upland Elementary and Jr. High Schools and graduated from Eastbrook High School in 1980. During high school, he pursued serving others by becoming a hairstylist, and in 1983 he opened his first salon in Upland with his lifelong friend Tim Felver. Though his salons have occupied various buildings in town, they have remained centered in Upland and have served the Upland and Taylor communities. He earned his real estate license in 1997, became a broker in 2009, and since 2015 has operated a real estate office in Upland, focusing on presenting the town's positive qualities to prospective buyers and serving clients with integrity and selflessness. His decades of service to the community have included work on the Upland Chamber of Commerce from 1990 to 1994, founding membership in Our Town Upland in 1992, many years as its president, and continued membership. He helped lead the effort to return the Depot to Upland in 1994, co-founded and co-presided with Chip Jaggers over the annual Upland Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony for its first 25 years, and in 1994 he and Chip Jaggers also planned the first Community Plunge day, which gave Taylor University students a work day to serve the town and still continues through the university. He served on the Upland Town Council from 1990 to 1996 and again from 2011 to the present, and as Council liaison to the Parks Board he has helped drive many changes in Upland and its parks. Since 2011, as a member of the Upland Area Greenways Association, he has helped spearhead implementation of the Upland Greenway and encouraged fundraising and community involvement around it. He has also influenced many young people in Upland and nearby communities by coaching baseball and softball teams, urging players to compete with class, and he continues coaching his grandchildren's teams. He raised two children, Alexandra and Conor, in Upland, and his legacy of service continues through them.
