Mount Talbert is a volcanic cinder cone in Clackamas County, Oregon, and part of the Boring Lava Field that reflects the ancient volcanic activity around Portland. Rising to about 740 feet, it is a modest but distinctive landform preserved as Mount Talbert Nature Park under the North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District. The park offers 4.2 miles of hiking trails, including routes to the summit and along the west ridge, while protecting the area’s natural resources. Since 2005, management has worked to restore native habitat by encouraging fire-resistant white oaks through the removal of Douglas firs that had suppressed their growth.
