Berry Hill is a 1,962-foot mountain in central New York whose historical significance centers on its fire observation station. Built in 1934 by the Civilian Conservation Corps with a tower supplied by the United States Forest Service, the lookout was first staffed in 1935 to watch over newly reforested state lands vulnerable to fire. It remained in service until 1988 and closed officially in early 1989 as fire detection methods changed. Added to the National Historic Lookout Register in 1993, the tower was rehabilitated through a $125,000 project in 2021 and reopened on September 13, 2021 for public use.
