French artist Leon Trousset made this drawing of Fort Inge on February 22, 1867, during a trip through Texas to California. Traveling on the lower road, he created the only known drawing of Fort Inge. On the same journey, he also made drawings of a crossing of the Devils River, a view of Horse Shoe Bend on the Pecos River, and Fort Davis. Trousset traveled throughout the Southwest and California drawing Spanish churches, and he later settled in Cuidad Juarez, Chihuahua.
